Like everyone who needs electronic components, we have been faced with unprecedented supply chain challenges that started in early 2021. First lead times stretched from a few weeks to 12 months or more, then routine prices on most things jumped 10-30%, then manufacturers (TI, Microchip, Analog Devices, etc.) started to simply not deliver shipments committed to a year plus in advance, and now we see extreme price increases of 2x-20x on some key components as brokers & speculators become more involved in the market.
We are proud that throughout all of 2021 we did not raise any prices and had almost every product in stock every day, much better than most other electronics manufacturers, but at the start of 2022 we had to update our pricing to pass on some of our increased costs and are fighting continued component supply problems. Our production planning and purchasing commitments have always extended a year+ out, and when things tightened at the start of 2021 we pushed that to 2-3 years out, so we are in a much better position than most. Per manufacturer commitments we expect to have everything in stock all the time, but unfortunately even major manufacturers are not honoring all their commitments, so we are taking extra steps every day to try and provide added margin to our supply chain.
